Central Queensland University, also known as CQUniversity, is a public university located in central Queensland, Australia. Central Queensland University has established campuses in every mainland state of Australia, demonstrating its extensive reach across the country. The main campus is located in Norman Gardens, Rockhampton, with additional campuses in various cities including Adelaide, Brisbane, Bundaberg, Cairns, Emerald, Gladstone, Mackay, Melbourne, Noosa, Perth, Rockhampton City, Sydney, and Townsville. Central Queensland University has established partnerships with university centres in various regional areas throughout Australia.
Central Queensland University has a rich history, starting as the Queensland Institute of Technology (Capricornia) in 1967. It then evolved into the University College of Central Queensland before finally becoming the University of Central Queensland in 1992. In 1994, the institution changed its name to Central Queensland University. In 2008, the university underwent a rebranding and adopted its current name, Central Queensland University Australia.

GCA released a comprehensive report showing a full-time employment rate of 71.3%, whereas a direct comparison revealed that CQUniversity had a higher rate of 81.1% for its graduates. In 2013, Central Queensland University received a prestigious five-star rating for its exceptional online delivery, internationalization, and accessibility. This recognition marked a significant milestone in the university’s global reputation. It received a score of 4 for both teaching and facilities.
In 2012, Central Queensland University significantly improved its rankings in the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) audit, moving up from 28th place in 2010 to 21st place. In 2012, the university achieved an impressive increase in its ratings, going from two three-star ratings in 2010 to a remarkable three five-star ratings. Central Queensland University excelled in four areas of research, as recognized by ERA 2012. Nursing research has consistently achieved a ‘world standard’ level, while research in applied mathematics, agriculture and land management, and other medical and health sciences have been acknowledged as performing at the highest levels of excellence, surpassing the world standard.
In 2014, Central Queensland University had approximately 35,000 students enrolled in its campuses and through distance education.
