Lincoln University (Māori: Te Whare Wānaka o Aoraki) is a public university in New Zealand that was established in 1990 after Lincoln College, Canterbury became independent from the University of Canterbury. Established in 1878, it holds the title of being the oldest agricultural teaching institution in the Southern Hemisphere. Lincoln University is the smallest university in New Zealand in terms of enrollment and one of the eight public universities. The campus spans across 50 hectares (120 acres) of land, approximately 15 km (9 mi) from Christchurch in Lincoln, Canterbury.
