Description
With a rich history dating back to 1910, Melbourne Polytechnic, formerly known as NMIT, is a highly respected institution that provides a wide range of higher education and vocational education (TAFE) programmes in Melbourne, Australia. In October 2014, Melbourne Polytechnic underwent a name change, thanks to a generous $19 million grant from the Victorian Government. The institution provides a diverse selection of study options, ranging from short courses to degrees under the Australian Qualifications Framework, to accommodate a large student body of over 50,000, which includes international enrollments. Melbourne Polytechnic is well-known for its extensive range of primary industry training programmes in Victoria. Students can choose from a variety of courses, including practical short-courses and a comprehensive Bachelor of Agriculture and Technology programme that specialises in Viticulture, Agronomy, and Agribusiness. Melbourne Polytechnic is organised into four faculties, each housing various Vocational Education and Training (VET) Teaching Departments and Higher Education programmes, including Master’s, Bachelor’s, associate degrees, and higher education diplomas. In 2014, under the leadership of interim CEO Ron Gauci, the Institute implemented a significant restructure, streamlining the teaching faculties from six to four. The enrollment and services provided to international students studying at Melbourne Polytechnic are efficiently coordinated by an International Office. Several bachelor’s degree courses offer associate degrees as an interim qualification and exit point after two years of study.
