Swansea University, situated in Swansea, Wales, United Kingdom, is a renowned public research institution.
Established in 1920, it was chartered as University College of Swansea, becoming the fourth college of the University of Wales. In 1996, the University of Wales Swansea underwent a name change due to structural changes within the University of Wales. The adoption of the title Swansea University took place on 1 September 2007, coinciding with the University of Wales transitioning into a non-membership confederal institution. As a result, the former members of the University of Wales became independent universities.

Swansea University operated solely from the Singleton Park Campus. Due to its rapid growth, the university established a new Bay Campus, spanning 65 acres and costing £450 million. This state-of-the-art science and innovation campus opened in September 2015. Ever since, Swansea University has been functioning as a dual-campus university, with the ‘Park Campus’ situated in its historic Singleton Park grounds, and the Bay Campus, at Crymlyn Burrows.
