Tacoma Community College (TCC) is a public community college located in Tacoma, Washington. It serves students in both Tacoma and Gig Harbour. It provides services to the city of Tacoma and the Pierce County area of the Kitsap Peninsula. Tacoma Community College was established in 1962 with the approval of voters, and it officially began operations in the autumn of 1965. On 7 December 1966, the Pearl A. Wanamaker Library at Tacoma Community College was officially named, and Pearl Anderson Wanamaker was graciously invited as a distinguished guest. Tacoma Community College is dedicated to fostering meaningful learning, promoting equity, and enhancing student and community success. Tacoma Community College is a top-notch community college that prides itself on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, staff, and community members. Since its opening, Tacoma Community College has attracted a significant number of students, with nearly half a million attending as of 2009. Tacoma Community College has received accreditation from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and is actively working towards maintaining this accreditation through NWCCU’s current cycle of standards. Tacoma Community College attracts a diverse range of students, with an average age of 28. Every year, more than 15,000 students choose to enrol at TCC. Tacoma Community College provides 46 vocational and technical programmes that are approved by the state. Based on the data from 2009/2010, the average placement rate for students in their chosen field is 86%. Tacoma Community College provides a wide range of educational opportunities, including 43 associate degree programmes, 3 bachelor’s degree programmes, and 33 professional and technical certificates. The bachelor’s degree programmes offered are in Health Information Management, Community Health, and Applied Management. The Class of 2019 saw a total of seven graduates from these programmes.
