Troy University, established in 1887 as Troy State Normal School, is a leading public university in the Troy University System. Established in the 19th century, it has evolved into state colleges and universities. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, it offers various degrees. In 2005, it merged with other campuses to form Troy University, which now serves students in four Alabama campuses and 60 teaching sites in 17 states and 11 countries.
